I had so much fun making this meat pie and chips out of clay. The tomato sauce is red acrylic paint and texture paste. The pie and contents are made of white raku and painted in acrylic washes. Finally, a gloss varnish was applied.
Practicing charcoal and pastels

TSB
The TSB is positioned at the junction of Waterworks Rd and Settlement Rd in The Gap. The artwork is called 'Preserving our Wildlife'. The message I hoped to convey was that our wildlife is vulnerable and if we don't look after it we will have to create it ourselves in the future. My animals have been created in metal. There are sixteen of them, one for every year of this millennium.

June 2015
In June, I exhibited with three other artists in a great little gallery in Brisbane, called The Aspire. The exhibition was called 'Kaleidoscope' so I painted this piece in response to the name.
April 2015
I had to paint a piece for a recent workshop that I was teaching which demonstrated the broken paint technique. This one was completed in 6 hours and turned into a pointillism exercise.
This was a recent commission. The athlete depicted is taking part in a triathlon held in Malaysia. He was successful in finishing 5th in temperatures of 38 degrees Celsius and 80% humidity. Impressive.
I really enjoyed the challenge of this work. The many decals (logos/numbers etc) are necessary so that the competitor's identity can be easily recognised by TV cameras at what ever angle they are viewed. They were torturous to paint but satisfying once completed.
January 2015
Inspired by the Adelaide Hills bush fires
Still working with the theme of 'fluidity' but coming to the end of the figurative work. Now to explore fire and water.
December 2014
Been playing around with my life drawings and ink flows, a theme based on 'fluidity'.
Shorty has been with us for about three years now, so it was about time I did his portrait. I used pastels for this study.
November 2014
42 years ago I deconstructed a poem at school with my English teacher, Miss Nicole Freni. It was called 'The Horses' by Edwin Muir. This poem really affected me and I still get goosebumps when I read it. I have always wanted to paint a horse from the poem, try to capture the shy but inquisitive nature of it. So, 42 years later, here it is.
September 2014
This is a painting of my father and I on the Ferris wheel at Bognor Regis in 1962. I was four. Dad is wearing a three piece suit and my mother would have been minding his trilby hat as she snapped us coming down. I am wearing a blue cardigan that she knitted me. I always knew it made me look frumpy. Chunky knits do not suit chunky children. However, I must be enjoying myself. Look at my leg.
"All the fun...."
April 2014
My friend, Glen Guy, took the photo that inspired me to do this piece. It is of a storm over Perth. I found the dramatic swirling clouds captivating and although dark, I loved the purples and contrasting orange slash of sky. I really enjoyed painting the big 'dump' of rain and the twinkling lights of the far away city.
It measures 3' x 2'
'Storm Over Perth'
A section showing the distant city
Here comes the rain.................
'The Scream of Nature' is a blend of two ideas. If it is turned around 90 degrees it becomes a foetus in the womb. If it is viewed this way up it is a landscape in the colours and style of Munch's 'The Scream'. This is a strange little painting. I can't really explain it. It just had to come out.
February 2014
This portrait of a baby was challenging as a child's features are so different from that of an adult. However, I really enjoyed it.

October 2013
This image of Cassandra was completed after attending a pastels workshop with David Wells. The earring was tricky.
July 2013
This is 'Bead Boy'. I decided to paint him when a friend showed me her holiday photos of Mozambique. He was trying to sell her beads. I love his expression and also the fact that he is wearing ear phones despite the fact that he is obviously impoverished. His t-shirt is stained and a little too small and his trousers are a little too big but wow! his ear phones are great!
April 2013
I finally had some time over Easter to finish this charcoal study. I thoroughly loved doing the skin and beard.
December 2012
